Our Chevron Brasil employees also represented the company in the panels of Arena Young Summit at Rio Oil & Gas. Ludmila Sampaio, Drilling Engineer; Leonardo Knittel, Database & Information Analyst; and Rafael Ferreira, Petroleum Engineer, attended sessions focused on the leading role of young leaders in the sector; the importance of the affinity groups in promoting inclusive environments; and the presence of young people in the energy industry, respectively.

In the session “Different and equal: the role of affinity groups in promoting inclusive environments”, held on September 27, Leonardo spoke about the importance of these groups as places for fostering and exchanging experiences. With that, he mentioned the objective of creating opportunities aimed at raising awareness and breaking down barriers that hinder progress towards a more diverse and inclusive environment in companies. He also advocated representation as an influence factor to the career development and talked about the similarities and differences between affinity groups and how they support each one to achieve their objectives. Rafael highlighted the industry’s efforts to increase diversity and provide a more inclusive environment.

On the same day (27), Rafael Ferreira mediated the panel “Why the energy industry is your place in ?”. The session addressed key actions in industry to integrate different people considering their individuality as well as the challenges, opportunities and impressions of young professionals related to diversity and inclusion in the sector.

Ludmila Sampaio was Chevron Brasil speaker in the panel “Young leaders: protagonists in the building the future” on September 28. Ludmila shared with the audience the path that she has been following since university, as an active member in student chapters, and in professional life, as a member of the youth committee of the Brazilian Petroleum Institute (IBP), with repercussions on the development of her career. According to her, this engagement provides not only the possibility of connections with industry stakeholders, but also helps in the soft skills development directly applicable to career development such as leadership, communication and global industry view. The panel also addressed the attributes of the leader in future and the importance of leading by example and was an opportunity for young people to take questions and receive tips on career development.
