On May 28, Chevron Brasil participated in the webinar on diversity in the O&G industry, promoted by the Young Committee of the Brazilian Petroleum Institute (IBP). The purpose of the virtual meeting was the importance of guaranteeing the plurality of society in the workplace.
Two professionals represented Chevron on the webinar: Fernando Carneiro, Human Resources Manager, as panelist, and Ludmila Sampaio, Drilling Engineer and also committee member, as one of the mediators. The virtual panel also had the participation of the IPB and Repsol Sinopec Brasil representatives.
Ludmila highlighted the Committee work in bringing to the discussions the role of diversity in the team formation in companies, considering factors such as gender, age, nationality, social position and sexual orientation.
Fernando talked about the importance of permanently combating prejudice in the corporate world, and how respect, engagement and growth opportunities for everyone influence in the workplace and in the company’s business results consequently.
He also mentioned Chevron programs focused on diversity and inclusion such as employees networks and the performance of selective processes by representative committees. The initiatives have already earned the company two awards: the 2019 Best Employers for Women, published by Forbes, and the 2019 Best Places to Work for People with Disability, by Disability Equality Index.
“We recognize that challenges still exist and that we do not have all the answers. But we know we are in the right way and we are learning a little more each day”, concluded.
The Youth Committee is a multidisciplinary group formed by young group between 20 and 35 years old and companies associated with IBP employees. The purpose is to bring a different view to the discussions inherent to the O&G industry.
