feature story Building a more resilient and innovative energy future
The current scenario and the impacts on the energy industry were a subject to panel in event hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce – Rio de Janeiro (AMCHAM Rio) and Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) on March 25. Chevron Country Manager for Brazil, Evelyn Vilchez was one of the speakers in the session alongside other women leaders from large companies such as Petrobras, Pre-salt Petroleum S.A. (PPSA), Energy Research Company (EPE) and TGS.
During the panel, Evelyn highlighted the importance of a balanced approach to the energy future, reflecting economic prosperity, energy security and environmental protection.
“Economies need reliable energy, and the energy transition varies greatly depending on geography. Brazil has a resource-rich and very clean energy matrix, other countries do not. That is why we believe that all types of energy will be necessary, and oil and gas will still play an important role.”, she said.
Evelyn also spoke on how Chevron has been working to contribute to a more resilient and innovative energy industry. She highlighted the company’s commitment to expanding our oil and gas businesses, reducing the carbon intensity of our operations and developing new lower-carbon businesses.
In addition, Evelyn also reinforced the importance of diversity in decision-making and the company’s efforts to remove barriers to create equal opportunities and ensure an inclusive environment for all. “At Chevron we believe that diversity of ideas is what ensures better strategic decisions for the business.”
