feature story Texaco returns to the fuel market in Brazil with the opening of its first fuel station

Texaco opened today (October 31) its first fuel station in Brazil after 14 years out of the Brazilian retail market. The chosen city was Palhoça, Santa Catarina, due to the history and connection of the dealer Daniel Kenig’s family with the brand. More fuel stations are expected to be installed in other cities.

In May, Chevron Brands International LLC, a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, announced the licensing of Texaco fuel stations in the country to Ipiranga. The distributor will be responsible for the commercialization and sale of Texaco fuels, the operation of Star Mart convenience stores, and the management of the Star Lube oil change service.

The partnership was the result of negotiations with Ipiranga led by the corporate Chevron brand team; Antonio Ennes, Lubricants Manager for Latin America, Diogo Trindade, Strategic Sales Consultant for Latin America; and Renan Ruas, Chevron Oronite Brazil Account Manager.

“We will work closely with and support Ipiranga to grow the Texaco brand and presence in Brazil. Consumers can expect the Texaco brand to offer Techron-quality fuels, services that meet customer needs and an international standard of high performance”, said Alice Potter, Vice President, Chevron Brand International.

To celebrate this milestone, a series of consumer initiatives will be held focusing on Techron fuels, Star Mart products, and Star Lube oil change services.

The partnership between Chevron and Ipiranga started in 2017 when they created the joint venture Iconic – currently the leader in the lubricants segment in Brazil. The joint venture markets lubricants, fluids and greases, in addition to distributing Chevron’s base oils.
