feature story Chevron participates in an event about Latin America's climate solutions

On October 17-19 Chevron participated in the “Latin America Climate Summit”, hosted by the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) in Copacabana Palace, Rio de Janeiro. The meeting is IETA's key regional event and it brought together experts from major companies from different sectors of the economy (including oil and gas), financial institutions, and government officials to discuss the evolution of the net zero scenario and the opportunities for a clean regional economic growth in Latin America.

Chevron's Climate Policy Senior Advisor, Daniel Lieberman, was one of the speakers at Day 1 Workshop “Unlocking Brazil’s carbon potential: opportunities for global climate action and prosperity”. He participated in a session about Experiences with Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) with official representatives from the Brazil Agriculture Ministry and Brazil Environment Ministry.

IETA is a non-profit business organization aimed to promote carbon market and pricing solutions to climate change; help design effective rules for market operation and integrity; and provide the most up-to-date and credible information on greenhouse gas emissions trading and market activity. The association seeks to develop a GHG emissions trading regime that results in real and verifiable reductions in emissions and balances economic efficiency with environmental integrity and social equity. Chevron is one of IETA's members.
